Learning Objectives
- Define conflict work and its impact on the lives of queer identifying people when interacting with unsupportive family members.
- Identify the importance of chosen family, especially during holiday seasons.
- Give examples of allyship during holiday seasons, including actions you can take professionally and personally to advocate for LGBTQ+ individuals.
- Recognize the stress and potential trauma associated with a queer person returning to their “home town” and/or attending religious events with family, including possibility of physical danger/violence.
- Describe the role of a social worker/service provider as an advocate & ally for LGBTQ+ individuals during holiday seasons.

2:50 PM Allyship & the Holidays
The importance of allyship and inclusion during the holiday season, including action steps to take professionally and personally in your organizations and communities.
3:20 PM Specific Stressors Related to Family Gatherings
Recognizing the stress and potential trauma associated with a queer person returning to their “hometown” and/or attending religious events with family, including possibility of mental, emotional and physical danger/violence.
4:00 PM Recognizing Your Role
Understanding your role as a social worker/service provider and how to be an advocate for LGBTQ individuals during the holidays.
4:30-5:00 PM Consultation and Discussion
A time for questions and discussion specific to participant’s areas of organization and specialty.
Registration
The cost to attend this event is $120 which includes CE certificate of completion. To register, visit queertalktherapy.com/queerliteracy/livingoutloud. Registration closes on March 17, 2023. Cancellations must be received prior to the event date to be eligible for a refund.
Course Completion & CE Credit
Course completion requirements: Social workers must attend the entire course and complete a course evaluation to earn CE credit. Certificates of completion will be emailed within 30 business days of course completion.

Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE course approval period: 11/08/2022 – 11/08/2024. Social workers completing this course receive 3 Cultural Competence continuing education credits.
