AFFIRMING CARE FOR GENDER EXPLORERS
Exploring your gender can feel exciting, confusing, or overwhelming. You may be wondering if you’re trans, nonbinary, or simply curious about why certain feelings keep returning. Therapy gives you a place to slow down and sort through it without judgment.
Does Questioning Mean I’m Trans?
Not necessarily. Questioning your gender is an important step in understanding yourself, but it doesn’t mean you have to identify as transgender. Some people discover they are trans. Others find they don’t fit neatly into traditional gender roles but don’t take on the trans label. Both experiences are valid. What matters is finding what feels right for you. Transitioning—socially, medically, or both—is always your choice.
My Approach
I’m Troy Johnson, LCSW, a gender-nonconforming therapist with over a decade of experience supporting transgender and nonbinary clients. My approach is collaborative and affirming. This is therapy that meets you where you are, not where a checklist says you should be. I reject gatekeeping. My goal is to provide a safe, judgment-free space where you can explore, reflect, and grow at your own pace. Humor, honesty, and deep respect are cornerstones of my work.

Gender therapy is a supportive, affirming space where you can explore your gender identity without pressure or gatekeeping. It’s about asking questions, reflecting on your experiences, and discovering what feels true for you. Some clients come to therapy with a clear sense of their identity but want help navigating transition. Others arrive unsure, simply curious about what their feelings mean. Wherever you are, you belong here.
