QUEER TALK THERAPY
FOR UNPRECEDENTED TIMES
When the world keeps tightening, you need more than coping skills. This is therapy that names what you’re up against and helps you move through it. Not around it.
FOR WHEN EXPERIENCE MATTERS
This work is shaped by 15+ years of clinical and advocacy experience across queer lives and stages, including work with children and teens, adults, elders, LGBTQ+ aging, identity development, and medical and social transition. The perspective here is queer‑identified, practice‑tested, and built from long‑term work inside the communities being served.
SEARCHING FOR AN LGBT FRIENDLY THERAPIST?
Many people begin their search using phrases like “LGBT friendly therapists.” That makes sense. Safety matters. Being treated with basic respect matters.
But “friendly” sets a minimal standard. It signals basic respect, not depth of understanding.
Queer‑centric therapy is designed around queer lives from the start. Identity is the default, not an assumption, and it shapes how goals are set, problems understood, and change measured, accounting for queer lives unfolding on different timelines than heteronormative ones, and for the weight of systemic oppression and daily microaggressions, translating straight therapy language into queer talk.
LGBTQ THERAPY FOR INDIVIDUALS & COUPLES
LGBTQ Individual Therapy
Individual therapy at Queer Talk is built for LGBTQ+ adults who are tired of managing everything alone. This is not generic coping work. Sessions focus on identity stress, anxiety, depression, burnout, boundaries, and the long-term impact of living in systems that were not built with you in mind.
What makes this work different is fluency. You do not have to explain queer culture, coming out timelines, religious harm, or minority stress from scratch. We move faster because the context is already understood. Therapy here is direct, strategic, and designed to change how you think, relate, and make decisions in your actual life.
Couples Counseling
Relationship therapy here is for moments of rupture, when trust feels strained, emotional distance has grown, or staying silent no longer works. This is not about assigning blame or fixing one partner. The client is the relationship itself, the patterns between you, the agreements that no longer hold, and the future you are trying to build together.
This work goes beyond basic communication tools. We focus on repair, clarity, and structure in a way that respects queer, trans, and nontraditional relationships, including open and evolving dynamics. When it works, couples stop cycling the same conflicts and start experiencing the relationship as a place of stability, honesty, and choice rather than something to survive.
"Troy, You’re the first person in the mental health field to listen to me and help. After 26 years of dismissal, I finally feel my life is my own."
